Cuteness Friday Trifecta – Part 1…Puppy Gets Stuck in Sleeve

July 20, 2012

Oh boy, after waking to the horrific news of the crazy ‘I’m the Joker’ gunman bursting into a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado last night and killing 12 people, and injuring nearly 60 more (including a 3 month old infant), I think we all need a little cuteness in our lives – as soft and fluffy and adorable as possible.

Above we have an adorable puppy who got stuck in a sweater sleeve. I know, I know, we all feel bad when someone laughs at a cute animal getting stuck or tangled up in something. That person should help, we say. But if it’s ever happened to you and your pet, you want to help, you really do, but you end up simply laughing so much you can’t move. You’re helpless. Honest.

It’s Be Kind To Animals Week!

May 9, 2012

If you follow Royal Pet Club and Lorenzo’s tweets, you’d know this week is Be Kind to Animals Week.

Promoted by the American Humane Association, the week has such stars as Betty White and Lorenzo Borghese giving their all to the cause. And what a great cause it is.

Even if you’re always kind to animals (and if you’re here on this site, reading this, then of course you are!) there’s always something else you can do. Volunteer to help at a shelter, promote the importance of spaying and neutering, or even just bring home something special for your pet (or allocate some extra time for extra pampering and attention).

Whatever you do, please help by spreading the word. The ASA has some great information on their Be Humane page, too.

Even though this week is Be Kind to Animals week, why not try and make every week Be Kind to Animals Week?

Tonight, Help Lorenzo Save The Horses!

May 3, 2012

Tonight, Lorenzo will be attending a cocktail party benefit in aid of one his great passions – horses! We all know how Lorenzo is dedicated to helping animals; in particular the house pet kind, but he’s equally passionate about those majestic creatures, horses.

The event hosted by NYCLASS, will be held at Tribeca Three Sixty (10 Desbrosses Street), from 7 to 11, with drinks, all vegan nibblies, a silent auction and dancing! (Hey, you never know, maybe you can score a dance with Lorenzo..)

Tickets are available at the door, with a discount for those under 30 (can you get some reverse fake ID, I wonder…I kid, I kid…never do that for good causes!).

The event is in aid of bringing about the end of horse carriages in NYC. The horseless carriage movement wants to end the cruel practice of having horses in busy Manhattan, and put the horses where they belong: in a lovely field where they’re away from the soot, smog, and dangers of city life, where they can run free.

Click here to learn more about it and to buy tickets. We hope to see you there tonight.

Happy Earth Day – Green Pets Are Cool

April 22, 2012

And no, I do not want any of you to dye their dogs, cats, ferrets or gerbils green (like that bizarre Chinese craze a while back, where everyone seemed to be running around with rainbow dogs).

It’s Earth Day today, a day to honour our planet, and do something to help reduce our carbon footprint. One great way we can do that is to make our pets as green as possible. Even the smallest thing counts.

So, what are you going to do?

There are lots of things you can do, but we have some great suggestions here (and we’d love to hear more tips from you in the comments.

Spay/Neuter – Puppies and kittens are adorable, but when pets start siring babies, then we end up with many more unwanted animals. Animals who live on the streets or are sent to shelters. And, spayed and neutered pets live longer, healthier lives, which means less vet visits. And we also suggest adopting a pet, rather than buying one.

Recycle – The cans your pet’s food comes in, the boxes litter is bought in, all these things can be recycled, and makes for smaller landfills. But recycling can be as simple as using those plastic bags your groceries come in, your veggies come in, as doggie bags.

Sustainable – Instead of paper plates to put your pet’s food on, use a special bowl or plate for them. And if you like to give your dog food and water when out and about, then bring along something you can reuse – there are some great collapsable and reusable bowls on the market. Take it a step further and get your pet toys, bedding and clothes made of sustainable and recycled materials.

There are so many different ways to green your pet. Happy Earth Day!

National Fire Dog Monument Benefit April 14

April 11, 2012

This Saturday, Lorenzo will be in Denver for the official unveiling of the National Fire Dog Monument (NFDM). The benefit will be held at the Denver Firefighter’s Museum, so if you live in Denver, or close by, you should go along.

The benefit is for all fire dogs, who risk their lives daily for our safety. You can purchase tickets online at There will be a meet and greet (yes, you’ll get to meet Lorenzo who has created not only an amazing product that’s great for your dog’s skin and coat, but created awareness about such things like puppy mills and the perils of pet shops in our modern world that many of us didn’t know about), an auction, an arson dog demonstration and live music.

It truly sounds like a wonderful event that honors even more wonderful creatures – these amazing fire dogs.

If you’re in the area, please buy a ticket and go. You never know when you’ll be personally in one of these dog’s debt.

Prince Lorenzo Borghese Attending 2nd Chance Benefit Tonight – Will You?

March 27, 2012

That’s right, everybody’s favourite prince is attending the American Humane Association’s Second Chance Fund fundraiser this evening, and you’re invited along!

The event is at the Ainsworth at 122 W26th Street in Manhattan, and is a wonderfully affordable fundraiser (with lots of fun to be had!). The suggested donation is $10 at the door, and if you get thirsty, there’s half off the specialty cocktail menu and a $4 Paige amber ale! Music is by DJ Friendly Greg and the art show is by animal portraitist Amanda Mikelberg.

So if you’re in Manhattan, between 7-9 this evening, go along and have some fun with Lorenzo and raise some money for animals in need. It’s a pretty fantastic deal, don’t you think?

Lorenzo hopes to see you there.
